What are my Teeth Whitening Options?

August 30, 2017

Woman with beautiful smile following teeth whitening

If you’ve watched television in the last several years, you’ve probably seen countless commercials detailing the amazing teeth whitening results possible when using a variety of whitening gels, pastes, and rinses. Take a trip down the oral hygiene aisle at your local pharmacy, and you’ll find shelf after shelf of products promising dramatic smile transformations. Safe to say, people have become a bit obsessed with teeth whitening. It’s no secret that many of the Arlington dental patients of James T. Gray, DDS want to brighten their smiles too. We offer both in-office and at-home teeth whitening for our patients. Every treatment plan is completely personalized to meet your unique needs and goals. If you’d like to get started down the road to a brighter smile, call our team to schedule a cosmetic dentistry consultation today.

In-Office Boost Teeth Whitening

We use the Opalescence Boost teeth whitening system in our office. This effective teeth whitening process delivers a brighter smile in about an hour. The double syringe activation system means every patient receives a fresh dose of active whitening agent. We apply the whitener to teeth for two twenty minute intervals. Following treatment, we provide a custom application tray and Zoom! teeth whitening gel. These are used to achieve and maintain your desired results.

Take-Home Teeth Whitening

Patients who prefer to whiten their teeth gradually or who have struggled with dental sensitivity, may want to use just our take-home teeth whitening kits. At-home whitening kits combine a custom application tray and professional doses of whitening gel. With daily application over the course of about two weeks, patients will achieve the same results possible with in-office teeth whitening.

What’s Right for Me?

The best teeth whitening option for you depends in large part on the underlying cause of your dental staining and discoloration. During your cosmetic dentistry consultation, we’ll review your smile and help you find the best teeth whitening solution. In most cases, an in-office or take-home teeth whitening plan will be effective. However, if we determine staining or discoloration will not be improved with teeth whitening, we can recommend other cosmetic dentistry solutions to improve your smile, including porcelain veneers and direct bonding.
